A night of dancing

Saturday night we left our sleeping princess with Tavo's cousin, Cindy. We went out to dance it up for our friend Sani and her husband. We were celebrating Sani's birthday. It was the 1st time in I would have to say close to 3 years we had been out dancing. We had a great time! Of course I was really nervous, actually we both were about leaving. It was the first time we had left her with anyone that late at night and the 1st time we had left her with anyone besides my sister and my friend Sani. I did loosen up and we enjoyed ourselves. Even though we stayed out late, we still didn't close down the place like we normally would (pre-Jaycee). She slept the whole time while we were gone, which is great! She has a habit of waking up a lot. Last night she was in bed by 7:45pm and awake at 9:30pm, then again at 1:30am and again at 5am. I envy those that say their babies even younger than Jaycee sleep 7-9 hours. I think I could count on my fingers how many times Jaycee has slept longer than 7 hours and she is 13 months. One day we will get a full nights rest :-)

Updates on the Princess

Well, today Jaycee is 13 months.......WOW is all I can really say! She's a busy little girl and changing everyday. Currently she has 3 new teeth coming in all at once. One on the bottom and two molars on the top. A total of 10 teeth now in that little mouth of hers. The last month or so she has been so much better about eating, YEAH! She is still really picky, but at least she is eating more things and even "sometimes" willing to try new things. I would have to say black olives and raisins are her #1 favorite right now.

She points to everything and loves to play peak-a-boo! When I come home from work she hears the garage and comes running. As soon as she sees me she covers her eyes and says "Boo", then comes running with a big hug. It's the cutest thing! Love her so much! I never want to come home to an empty home, it's the best greeting ever! She is also such a lover, she is always giving out hugs and kisses.

She has really been talking a lot more lately also. Saying all kinds of new words, some in Spanish and some in English. I'll try and list everything below, I hope I'm not leaving anything out:

Spanish words:
elbow - codo
nose - nariz
cheeks - cachete
eyes - ojos
bird - pájaro
frog - rana
bottle/cup - teta
water - agua
octopus - pulpo

Enlish words:
Momma
Dadda
No no no
baby
nite nite
down
hi
bye bye
poo poo
turtle
buddy (daddy is always calling her little toys her buddy)
toes
moo moo (for Shamu our cat)
gwenie (for Gwendolyn our cat)

Zoo Day!

Today we got up this morning and headed to the zoo. We met my sis and the kiddos. It was a beautiful morning and we enjoyed the time with family! I'm still so thankful my sister is so close and we are able to do fun stuff like the zoo together with our kids. Jaycee loves her cousins! Enjoy some pictures from today...

Can you tell that's uncle Tavo with Aidan. It was so cute, she was so excited to take a picture and wanted uncle Tavo to take it with her.

Jaycee too.

Size 4 & Michelle

I thought today being January 4th would be a good day to announce, I bought a size 4 pair of jeans this weekend! Wow, can't even remember the last time I wore a size "4". I even bought 3 tops and they were all size "small". I'm so excited about the new direction we are headed in and feel fabulous! Check out a picture below of the new healthy mommy and daddy........

Today is one of my good friends birthday....Happy Birthday Michelle! We love you and miss you! Can't believe this picture was taken over a year ago and that little turkey you are holding is so big now. Big birthday hugs to you! Wish we could be together to celebrate! Colorado is so far away.....or I guess you could say SD is so far away.

Happy New Year!

Happy 2010! I wish everyone a prosperous new year! We are hoping the new year lands Tavo a new job. Even though the quality time Tavo has had with Jaycee the last 8 months has been wonderful and neither of us want it to come to an end. We love that at least one of us is home with her while the other one has to work. 2009 was good to us and we feel very blessed and are happy we have each other in our lives and a beautiful baby girl!

I never have been a person to make new years resolutions and not going to start now. Plus I already feel like I've gotten a wonderful start off to a new year with the weight I have lost. After having Jaycee I became pretty heavy, actually before having Jaycee I was heavy. Tavo and I decided about 3 months ago we needed to turn our life around not only for ourselves but for Jaycee too and we started eating much healthier. Since then I'm 24 pounds lighter and feeling great! Tavo has even lost 20 pounds too and we both are feeling really good. I've said bye bye to my size 10 jeans and bought a size 6. And now those size 6 jeans are even too big :-)

Cheers to the New Year!

Shamu kitty

This is Shamu one of our cats and we just found out he is diabetic. Now we have one cat with hyperthyroidism and one who has diabetes. Let the vet bills roll in! Don't get me wrong, I love both of my cats very much but the cost to take care of them when they are sick is huge! I'm praying right now that we can control the diabetes soon without running a lot of blood tests like we had to with Gwen. The insulin alone is costly and even the special food he needs to be on is costly. Please pray that Shamu gets well soon. The vet says it's possible that he could get better and I wouldn't have to give him insulin shots everyday. But I don't see that happening, I have a feeling I'll be giving insulin shots for the rest of Shamu's life. Poor Shamu.

Our family night out

Tonight we spent a nice family evening out looking at Christmas lights. Boy was it a chilly night...we had Jaycee all bundled up in her stroller with lots of blankets. I'm sure she would have enjoyed walking around, but we wanted to keep her warm. She still loved all the lights from her stroller. She was too cute, she would point and make noises when she saw something she liked! Some of the houses were selling hot chocolate and apple cider so we stopped and got some in hopes it would make us warm. It didn't work! San Diego is nothing like Colorado. My friend Michelle is probably freezing her butt off right now in Colorado. Try and stay warm Michelle! We miss you! Oh Maria, you are the best. The wonderful beanies you made for us came in handy once again tonight and kept us warm. We struggled at first with keeping Jaycee's on, but she finally did after seeing mommy and daddy in theirs. Yeah! Check out some pictures...

Happy 1st Birthday Jaycee Renee

Wow, it's been a year already! I can't believe at this time last year I was in the hospital and just had her. She was born at 8:47pm. Jaycee is at such a fun stage in her little life right now, we are enjoying every second of it. She is always laughing and smiling even with her two little fingers in her month. She is doing and saying so many things. We love you princess!

This Sunday we baptized our little princess and held a birthday party for her. It was great fun and had a lot of family and friends join in on the fun! Even Grandma, Grandpa, Great Grandma and Great Grandpa came from AZ to join in on the fun! Thanks everyone for coming to celebrate! Auntie Shelly is the best and made a wonderful cake, actually she made a couple wonderful cakes! They were all very tasty. She even made Jaycee her own little cupcake. Thanks so much Auntie Shelly.

The day was super busy and I didn't really get good pictures, which makes me very sad. We got one family picture and it didn't turn out that well. We didn't really get a good picture of Jaycee all dressed up in her sweet little dress either. My mom did share some of the pictures she got, but I'm hoping others have good pictures to share also. Here are some of the good pictures I did get.

Happy Birthday Princess...mommy and daddy love you very much!
